Nafeer Hackathon is a pioneering national initiative aimed at harnessing the power of technical innovation and digital solutions to address critical humanitarian and developmental challenges in conflict and crisis-affected areas in Sudan. The hackathon brings together the best innovative minds of developers, designers, and social entrepreneurs to develop practical and sustainable solutions.
Through four strategic tracks covering education, health, infrastructure, and financial services, Nafeer Hackathon seeks to build technical solutions applicable in resource-limited environments, focusing on sustainability and tangible community impact. Developed solutions will work in weak or no connectivity conditions, considering low cost and ease of use.
Education Track
Developing educational platforms and applications that work with weak or no internet to address the education gap in conflict zones, providing flexible education, content management, and connecting teachers with students
Health Track
Building digital solutions that facilitate access to healthcare services and improve management of medical data and follow-up (appointments, consultations, records) while respecting data privacy and working in low-resource environments
Infrastructure Track
Developing digital tools to assess infrastructure needs, support phased planning, engage communities in reporting, and monitor implementation without relying on complex infrastructure
Financial Services Track
Innovating digital financial solutions that facilitate access to financing, savings, and secure transfers for individuals and small businesses, focusing on simplicity, trust-building, and regulatory compliance
